Female Heavyweights - Martha Salazar

We should definitely give some attention to the female heavyweight division.  Promoters need to put more women's fights in their shows. and the heavyweight division is no exception.

In women's professional boxing, the heavyweight division is anything over 189 lbs but Martha Elena Salazar has weighed in between 230 and 240 lbs for most of her fights  Martha's hometown is San Fransisco and her first professional fight was way back in March of 2001 where she defeated Denise Callahan.  Her last fight was about a year ago when she became world champion for the third time by defeating Tanzee Daniel in a 10 round bout.

Martha lost to Vonda Ward in their three matchups.  She also fought Marsha Valley four times and won all but one of these bouts.

According to BoxRec, Martha's record is 13-4-0 and has won three fights by TKO.  This gives her an 18% knockout percentage.

I hope there will be more recognition of the heavyweight division in the media as these women deserve a lot more recognition!  It would also make it easier for enthusiasts like me to follow these boxers and their fights more closely.
